Werner Creutzfeldt Doctoral Scholarship 2021

German Pancreas Club awards Werner Creutzfeldt Doctoral Scholarship 2021 to Ms Iris Beirith from Munich

At the general meeting of the DPC on 15 September 2021, Ms Iris Beirith from Munich was awarded the Werner Creutzfeldt Doctoral Scholarship 2021. As part of her doctoral thesis, Ms Beirith is investigating connections between the microbiome and pancreatic carcinoma in the working group of PD Dr Matthias Ilmer (University Hospital Munich, Clinic for General, Visceral and Transplant Surgery). The scholarship holder's project was selected by a jury from several high-quality research projects. The scholarship, endowed with € 5,000, will enable Ms Beirith to work on her PhD project entitled "Intra- and postoperative microbiome in pancreatic cancer to determine prognostic factors of postoperative morbidity and tumour recurrence" even more effectively and to present the results at high-level specialist conferences.
